THE UMBRO GALWAY CUP 5 - 9 AUGUST 2008 TOURNAMENT Now established in the youth soccer tournament calendar this event welcomes teams from USA, Canada, Europe and the UK to meet Irish sides. A high standard of competition is offered at all ages and professional level at the Elite Group of 1993 for 2008. The main venue is The Drom Soccer Centre, the home of Salthill Devon FC. This remarkable facility was carved from the tough bog and rock landscape to produce excellent soccer fields. GALWAY Medieval it may be but Galway is now a bustling University city with excellent shop and lots of attractions for visitors. The city is on the shores of the Atlantic with only the Aran Islands between it and North America. It's a cultural as well as a sporting experience and you will enjoy the Irish traditional scene. ACCOMMODATION The University of Galway's Corrib Village provides standard and en-suite accommodation with meals at the nearby University restaurant. Self catering and hotels are also available on request. Shuttle buses link the accommodation and the fields. COMPETITIONS BOYS GIRLS TRAVEL Galway has its own airport with direct flights to various UK airports, Belfast and Dublin. International travelers can fly through Dublin or use Shannon International Airport which is just over an hour from Galway. Knock Airport is also within easy reach.
